Because they were late turning in the h uman trafficking prevention plan required by the state . For their part, COTA says that the plan they developed for the Moto GP was in place at the time, and should have been accepted for F1. While these things do tend to get worked out eventually, a $20M hit could jeopardize this year’s race.

Liberty Media will hash it out with the state. There is no way F1 would willingly cancel a U.S. race when they are trying to expand here. We don’t need another “ Father’s Day Massacre” .

For whatever reason, TX has always been tight with the money for F1. Brings in all the furriners, unlike NASCAR.

The 2020 Mexican GP was denied a similar amount of grant money because the government thinks it’s not a good expenditure, it’s gonna go to Andres Manuel’s stupid peninsular train instead.

Which made my current mayor say that she’s glad the feds won’t be spending grant money on the event even if it’s held at her city and it’s money that the government won’t have anymore. Why? Same political party.

The Mexican GP has won best GP a number of years (because the track is old and the fans are great), and it also makes more money for the government (via taxes) than they spend promoting it and granting.
